add a way to simulate hard and soft bounces
I'm evaluating mailtrap for our outbound email testing needs. It seems like mailtrap accepts all email you send via SMTP. However in order to thoroughly test real-world scenarios, there should be a way to configure that, say, 1% of all mail will be soft-bounced, and 0.1% of all mail will be hard-bounced. Of course those number should be configurable, and even better if the user could configure specific SMTP result codes and enhanced status codes and control the percentages of each one.

Change the mailtrap mascot to a toasted cheese sandwich
26 votesThank you all for sharing your vision on Mailtrap mascot and for the creative suggestion! After thorough consideration, we’ve came up with a decision to keep to our mascot. The flower-man has already become a member of our Mialtrap family, and we hope you will share our attidute and support our Mailtrapper guy :)

Forwarding to bcc email address
It seems like emails are only being forwarded based on the "To" address, and "bcc" is being ignored.
9 votesThere is no way to know how to forward on BCC, it’s “blind”

Offline support
I would love to see mailtrap.io optionally as a downloadable app that I may use to develop offline.

Allow us to look up messages by messageID header
It would be great if there was a way to look up messages using the message_id header via both the API and the web interface.
That way it would be easy to programatically verify that a give message was delivered using the API

Add a version withut showing images
Many clients, gmail included, don;t show images by default. It would be nice to see the design in that context in the inbox.

Forward all emails
All our systems are configured to send to an inbox.
We require the ability to forward all mail regardless of address, subject or content.3 votesHi! Thanks for your request. We won’t be considering this feature for implementation. For this functionality, you might want to consider using transactional email services.

Multiple email selection
A checkbox near the emails in the left sidebar to make multiple selection and than delete or whatever action a user wants to make.

Alternative ways to verify forward domain
Currently we just can't alter customer's DNS records, so we could use some alternative method to "verify" domain. I'm not even sure why any verification is necessary in the first place..
3 votesYou should not do anything with customers DNS records, because the main feature of Mailtrap is “not spamming real customers”. Forwarding feature is used only for debugging purpose for dev teams, but not for sending real emails to real customers. Throw errors on defined domains
Capturing all outgoing emails is great but sometimes I want to test invalid email addresses and handling the errors that would be thrown. Because Mailtrap accepts all email as valid, I can't test that without turning the site into production mode.
Maybe a pattern or something that lets me set something in the "to" address would flag that particular email to be thrown back to my code as an error and I'd have to handle it.
Example:
to: user@website.test ... works. Mailtrap captures the email
to: user@website.error ... throws an error on my code when attempting to send to anything…2 votesThanks for your request. At this moment, we do not plan to implement functionality like this. We believe it may create inconsistency in using the application. We may consider getting back to this idea later on.

Auto-show last incoming mail.
Since realtime updates is already implemented, it would be helpful if we could check some checkbox so the inbox always shows the last incoming mail, without the need for me to click it in the message list.

Display RAW in browser
It would be great to have an option to display RAW > 300kb in browser instead of having to deal with files. If you really can't manage to display it inline, just rip off what gmail does and open it in a new window.
Thanks
1 voteWe display the link for downloading RAW email for cases like this (when an email is bigger than 300kb). We do not see inlining up to 25 Mb of payload in a browser (especially on Mobile with a limited CPU and memory) a good solution.

per minute limit
Is there any per minute limits instead of per 10 seconds or per second?
its to hard!!
many software use per minute or per hour limitation tips and there would be conflict and we can use only first 2 or 30 or 60 instead of 120 or 180 or 360!!!1 vote -

Test Email Campaign Responses
We use a bulk email delivery company as our email campaign gateway (Socketlabs).
I am looking for something that will automate the responses to campaigns - ie. enable some to return
Bounced
Failed
Complaints
Opens
Clicks
The response could be set by mailbox - and perhaps the facility to spread the timing of opens and clicks.1 vote -
Display the SSL/STARTTLS cypher, protocol etc
Given that we just had a SSLv3 issue, I think it would be helpful if each mail can display the SSL/STARTTLS status, cypher, protocol etc with which the mail was sent. Google mail does this for example in the received lines (version=TLSv1.2 cipher=ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 bits=128/128). Maybe something like this could be displayed as additional data for each mail.

Add simple nullmailer example.
nullmailer is a simple smtp forwarder for *nix its part of the debian repository for example and is great with mailtrap since you dont need a full on mailserver like postfix/exim.
here is a simple one line setup for nullmailer with mailtrap:
edit /etc/nullmailer/remotes and add the following line:
mailtrap.io smtp --port 2525 --user=USERNAME--pass=PASSWORD1 voteThank you for your suggestion. We’ve added plain examples for different programming languages and as an exception telnet example. That was done to show you, how you can use Mailtrap with your favorite programming language.
It wasn’t our goal to provide examples for all mail existing mailing tools.
